Transportation

PLANE:

  • Venice has two airports, Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) or Treviso Airport (TSF). VCE is the only airport truly in Venice and serves for international flights. While TSF is 40km from Venice and mainly for budget airlines.

  • How to get from Treviso Airport to Venice:

TRAIN:

  • Venice has two main train stations, Mestre (outside Venice) and Santa Lucia (located in Venice). Both train stations have connections to other Italian cities. You can book train tickets directly on TrenitaliaItalo, or Trainline or get your tickets at the station.

BUS:

  • FlixBus offers services to and from Venice. If you’re on a tighter budget, this might be the best option for you. Book your ticket directly on FlixBus for the best price.

HOW TO GET AROUND VENICE:

  • Transportation in Venice can be intimidating because they use vaporettos or waters as their main source of transportation.

  • You will need a day or multi-day pass that allow you to hop-on-and-off as much as you like. You can get your pass at ACTV ticket booths at major docks. In my experience, the people at the ticket booth are fair and will help you decide what pass is best for you.
